HVAC/ Refrigeration Service Engineer

Job Purpose 

To service and maintain heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings.  

Job Description 

Refrigeration Engineers tasks include but are not limited to: 

• Troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls equipment such as air compressors, pumps, air handlers, air dryers, heat exchangers, other environmental changing devices & mechanical, electrical pneumatic and electronic components. 
• Installs, maintains or repairs pneumatic valve, electric valves, heat transfer equipment, ventilation and air distribution equipment. 
• Installs and replaces all types of pumps and refrigeration equipment according to prints, specifications, diagrams or other instructions. 
• Reads gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls & pumps to control level of fluid pressure and distribution in systems. 
• Operates various refrigeration recovery equipment in accordance with guidelines provided. 

• Performs gas welding repairs to pipe work as required. 
• Performs planned maintenance, regular servicing and repairs to refrigeration equipment of all types, sizes and temperature ranges. 
• Maintains records of work performed and identifies equipment requiring future service. 
• Co-ordinates work schedules with other employees as necessary to keep customer inconvenience to a minimum. 
• Provide leadership and control of projects as requested. 

• Converse / engage with clientele to remedy/solve problems & issues. 

Person Specification: 

• Education & Experience required. 
• Knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration tools, materials & test equipment. 

• Knowledge of repair, maintenance & and installation techniques. 
• Skill in reading & understanding schematics. 
• Skill in analysing HVAC or refrigeration malfunctions from performance & test equipment readings & determining appropriate repairs. 
• Skill in both verbal & written communication.
